Established in 1933 at the initiative of 1st Finance Minister of Independent India, Late Sir R.K. Shanmukham Chetty represents the entire textile value chain in South India. Covering sectors from fiber production to textile finishing, the association has played a significant role in shaping the Indian textile industry. With its strong reputation and close collaboration with policymakers, SIMA is a major voice in all textile-related policy-making bodies. ides comprehensive guidance in areas ranging from textile project design to marketing strategies. The association actively works to promote investment, employment, and sustainability within the sector while ensuring the industry's competitiveness on a global scale. Its initiatives are aimed at strengthening the textile ecosystem in South India and driving national growth. Recognizing the critical role of cotton in the textile value chain, SIMA Cotton Development & Research Association (SIMA CD&RA) is the only NGO working alongside the government to improve cotton cultivation. The organization is actively engaged in developing and supplying genetically pure cotton seeds to farmers, helping bridge the gap between industry demand and cotton production in terms of both quantity and quality.
